Obscure/weird/unusal Local Places?

Hi there, I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any strange, bizarre, or weird places locally? Doesn't have to be "scary" per se, but that would be awesome if they are! I have small list so far of places I want to check out that seem kinda weird, hopefully you get the idea!

-Old Trapper's Lodge (Pierce College)
-Foster Bowl Park
-Mallory Way Cottages

Hope this is the place for this! If not, I'd love to be directed where I can find more weird spots to check out!

Simi valley haunts

Hey have any of you heard of Big Springs elementry? I have been there a couple of times late at night every time i go i here or see something I've taken pictures and strange things come up. My 5 th grade teacher said that there use to be something there before the school was built but I cant find anything! if you can find something on it please send a link!

My brother sees a man in our bathroom

When I first moved into my house on 1207 via arroyo my brother was 5 and I was 6 but I still remember him going to my dad and saying whats that man doing there looking at us? he said pointing into the bathroom. Then my dad says what does he look like, so my brother said like one of those see through people in the cartoons? what else my dad then asked. He's taller than you (my dads 6 feet 2 inchs) and has grey combed back hair. terrified me and my dad look and no one's there but then my brother waves. 7 years later my brother still wont go into the bathroom on some occations and when we ask why he says you know why.

Barn next to Saint Johns in Oxnard

So like the property is close to camino del sol park I think.

One of my friends told me he had been on the property and went into the barn, he said he heard a scream or shriek of some sort coming from the top story. He told me the place is super creepy and that there are little rooms on the bottom floor that are super dark. There was also a boy who was trampled on by one of the horses that stayed there and died.

I dunno about you guys but I really wanna check this place out. Tell me if you guys have heard any stories or such, I really want to check this place out.

I want to give Haunted Tours all year round!

Hi all, I am a new member, I just love these stories. I found this site because I wanted to give a haunted tour of the old Camarillo State Hospital but thanks to this site I learned that it can not happen. I give Trolley-bus tours (wine tours, weddings etc.), but we have so much interest in haunted tours! I need to get the ball rolling ASAP, does anyone know where I can bring a trolley full of people to either just drive by or take photos or even get out and explore???

Book on paranormal locations on the Central Coast

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum, and would love to get/confirm information on haunted locations in Ventura, also Santa Barbara, Lompoc, Santa Maria, SLO, etc...

I am researching for a book that is scheduled to be published next year on paranormal events/locations on the Central Coast.

Today I had some specific questions:

1)Does anyone have phone/e-mail information for Richard Senate?
How do I take one of his ghost tours/where do I sign up for them?

2)The Santa Clara House-is this now a restaurant, and if so, what is the exact address and phone number of the restaurant so I can call and get more information.

3)the Zander Building andd the haunted bank in Oxnard-does anyone have the exact location/addresses and phone numbers for these places and more specific information on who to contact, etc...

Basically I am looking for places in Ventura, etc, where I can go and interview people who have had actual experiences, and where the establishments are "ghost friendly" and willing to talk about such experiences; there are places like the Bacara in SB that has a tight lipped policy;

I am also interested in visiting Channel Islands University; does anyone have any information on this?

I may also be interested in interviewing/working with a paranormal investigating group in Ventura;

Staying at the Geln Tavern Next week....

Hello,

I'm new to this forum so I guess I'll intoduce myself. I'm Tac, I am 24 years old and have lived in Ventura County for over half of my life. I have had only one or two expierences that I cannot 100%explain but are probably just flukes. I am very intrested in the paranormal despite not really expierencing anything. (I'm sure when I do I'll crap my pants but it will be all in good fun right?). I can explain the expierences I have had and maybe get some opinions from you if you want but on too what this post is about.

I am staying at the Glen Tavern next week. I rented Rooms 219 and 304 (307 wasnt available for "maintanence reasons" but when we get there I'll probably ask one more time.) I was wondering If you guys had any tips for when I'm there or if you know any other rooms that you have expierenced something in?

I've stayed at the Glen Tavern before, actually in Room 307. I didnt expierence anything there however it was still an interesting stay. The hotel clerk tried to convince us to get a different room, we declined. We went to the third floor and the third floor was completely dark, no lights in the hallway and of course Room 307 is all the way at the end of the hall. We stayed up in the room and went to the lobby at about 2 am to and then roamed around the whole Inn. It was pretty cool becuase the clerk even went to sleep so there was no one in sight. We still didnt witness anything but a quite old Inn...not even any sounds.

Anyway I would like your guys insight on the Glen Tavern or any Tips you have to Provoke paranormal activity. Let me know and it's a pleasure to be posting here.

Chatsworth Train Crash Site.

Photos reveal Purple Plasma ENergy PPEN on the rails only where the actual crash and carnage occured. Interesting note, the Santa Susana Mountains in the background also displayed a lot of PPEN as well. It seems there is a lot of energy in those mountain tops and areas.

I think we may have a ghostie....

Okay, something happened the other evening when my daughter and I were watching TV. My husband was upstairs sleeping (works nights) and we were down stairs watching tv. It was about 7:30pm and yes it was dark outside. We had a light on in the livingroom (it was next to me) and the tv was on. We were watching the Simpson�s so there was not bright lights coming and go from the tv (new 37" flat screen tv...hubby really likes his tv).

Any how, we are sitting there when all of a sudden (I am sitting in the chair and my daughter is laying on the couch with her head towards me) a white light came in from the kitchen/dining room into the livingroom and just lights up the entire livingroom (almost like a burst of light) with a yellow light.

Just when I start chalking it up to, me just seeing things. My daughter sits up from the couch and asked me if I just saw that. I said yes I did. She asked me what it was and I said I think a light may have burned out. Then she said but the only light that is on is still on.

So, I am little stumped here and thought I would post this in hopes that someone might have an idea. Because I work for a bank/ mortgage company I can look up properties at my desk. What I found out was that every 2 years this place is sold. We bought this Condo in Oct 2005, we actually got the keys on Friday Oct 13th (and no, I am not superstitionists). The people that we bought this from moved out of state so I can not contact them to ask if they had any experiences.

Now, the wood shutters were closed on the front windows and the backyard backs up to the ally. Any yes, I thought of flash light but in order for someone to flash a light in my place they would first have to get past the fence and then past the 7/8 foot trees I have in my backyard....so, I have ruled out flash lights. I have also ruled out street lights. We have one on the edge of our backyard and it does not put off a lot of light and come on at 6pm (set up on timer).

Our cat was not downstairs when this happened. But, there have been times when she will just stop and stare at things. I just chalk it up to her being a cat. We do hear the floors creak upstairs and we have always chalked it up to the next door neighbors (we only have one common wall). But, that night after the light I am starting to wonder if all of the creaks are from our neighbors. After all that night the creaking was really loud and in the hall way.

Now to top it off. Yesterday I came home from work because I did not feel very good. At around 11:30am yesterday my sliding glass door shook like we were having and earth quake. I like in California so they are no big deal to me. I looked at my hanging light to see if it was swinging and it wasn�t. So, then I thought it must me windy outside. Nope, nothing was blowing my trees were not moving at all. So, I turned on the news to see if they would mention anything about and earth quake....nothing.

House on Telephone and Kimball

Okay I am sure you all have seen the house on Telephone across from the Ventura water-park (where they sale the yummy strawberries). Any ways, I was wondering you if anybody knows if that place is haunted? The sure looks creepy.

Also, does anyone know if Todd Ranch condo's have any activity due to being so close to that house and next to the barranca?

Scares at Nordoff

I got really scared at Nordoff a couple of times, okay 3 that I can recall. One time I was over by the fence to the neighbors of the cemetery. I was with Corinna's sister in law. All of a sudden we both heard the scariest growl I have ever heard. We both bolted from the spot. Her husband said it was a horse and we both told him horses don't growl like this thing just did.
There is an area that I feel real uncomfortable about. I decided to take a lot of pictures hoping they would show something I was seeing. I got the pix on my computer and enlarged the scarey area and I saw the absolutely most scariest thing. It looks like how I would describe satan. I know I put the picture up on the site but it didn't look right. I showed it to a lot of people without saying anything and they all saw the same evil thing.
Fortunately they clipped all the shrubs there so you can see a lot more now. That is why I won't go there alone or with just another lady.
There was another time when Lexx and I could tell the spirits wanted us out and I had to tell everyone many times that it was time to LEAVE. I think it was the shadow people but the fog came and went in a second. Really freaky.

Home Investigation

I was invited by a friend to do an investigation in a private residence a couple weeks ago. For their privacy I will not tell you the address or names.
My friend held the dowsing rods while I asked questions. The family had done some research on the spirit and I told them not to tell me. His name was Charles but preffered to be called Charlie. He had 3 daughters who for some reason had estranged themselves from him. The female resident was the daughter he didn't get to have a relationship. He took a liking to her and she could tell. She wondered why he would mess with the washing machine. It was his way, a joker. Charlie was protecting her and she also said she felt that too. She was so afraid I would make him mad and he'd leave. I assured her he wouldn't. She had several friends popping in and out during the time I was there. They asked some questions as well. He was very slow with each answer which was interesting. He was an older man. I told the resident that when she moves it is very likely he will move with her. I could see him and at times he would fade away when people came in. I was happy to know the things I saw and picked up about Charlie had been verified by the resident from the history library. I was happy to go because this was the first time I have gone to a private resident. I look forward to more investigations like this. Sorry I can't tell everything due to privacy. I also talked to one of her friends who was there. I was ytelling her what was blocking her happiness and some personal stuff which I have never done before. That was very exciting.

ok, so the town im in here in Oklahoma has one tiny list on strangeusa website... well i asked my brother what it means and he knows the story well. it seems this legend/haunting goes back at least 100 years. there is a road called " witty road" and my brother said, if you go there at night and throw a pebble into the cemetary the rock flies back out to you. Iam absolutly stranded in an ice storm right now, with no end in site, but i have cameras and will post a pic of witty road if i can ever get out of here. I have to be at work in Ventura by friday, but it dont look good :'(

I heard it from a friend who worked for a security company that contracted out to the property. She was only visible from the waist up. The security guards told my friend that it was captured on security video present in the house.

mitz1k	Has anyone ever investigated the Japaneese cemetary on the corner of Pleasant Valley rd. and Etting rd. in Oxnard? I pass by every day and wonder if the cemetary and the Masonic cemetary directly behind have wandering spirits. The only upgrade to this area is the fence put up around it, otherwise, it seems very plain.

mitz1k	I rationalized the fact that mabey the cook was getting ready for the morning,so, I rushed back up the stairs where I noticed that there was a glass roof area where you can see down into the kithen area. I looked and did not see anyone or anything. After picking up my girlfriend and going back to the Inn, I told her about the strange noises and so she decided that it would be interesting to investigate the area. We didn't notice anything else out of the ordinary that evening. The next morning I went down to the lobby to ask the manager if there was anyone working in the kitchen over night. I explained about what I witnessed. He just smiled and told me about the ghost of Sylvia Michales. He showed me a scrapbook of articles collected over the years regarding the haunted inn and explained to us the whole story of her death. He then asked if we wanted to check out the room where she was found. I really didn't want to, but, my girlfriend insisted on it. We walked up the staircase and when he opened up the door to the room, we felt an instant tempature drop. The room was cold and uneasy. He then showed us the armiore-closet where Sylvia was found and when he opened up the closet the air was even colder than the already cold room. I did not like the uneasy feeling of being in that room and had to excuse myself. After having breakfast and checking out we thanked the manager and signed the guest book. I believe I noted my experience in the guest log. I would be curious to go back and try to reinact my evening. However, I think I would still avoid the infamous room.

mitz1k	When I was younger, I stayed at the Inn. My girlfriend at the time didn't get out of work until two in the morning. Knowing that the clerk left for the night I checked in early and retreated to my room. At the time I had no knowledge about the ghost of Sylvia Michaels or the history of the building. Anxiously awaiting I decided to go down to the first floor to look around. My second objective was to find the ice maker to chill the wine. The lobby and dining area of the Inn is beautiful in case you've never been there. The hotel was only occupied by a few others than myself due to the fact that it was the middle of the week. So, I just stood there in the middle of the lobby taking in the ambiance of the moment. Now, to the ice machine. It was at the end of a dark hallway that passed the kitchen. I went back up stairs to retrieve my ice bucket. At the top of the staircase is where I noticed the strong scent of perfume. It was unlike any other I've ever smelled. It had an age to it. Can't say it was rose perfume, but, it was dated. I retrieved my ice bucket and came back down stairs to the hallway where the ice maker was. It was dark and I did hesitate. Although, the light from the metal shutters on the right peeked through the bottom of the kitchen order windows. So, finally my eyes adjusted and I made the dash to the ice maker. On the way back I again passed the kitchen serving window now on my left, when I noticed the shadow coming from within the kitchen. Almoast simutaniously I heard the pots and pans clinging and dropping on the ground. I peeked through the half inch gap of the metal shutters and saw what looked like someone dancing back and forth through the kitchen....

mitz1k	I have both a digital voice recorder and a old fashioned tape recorder. I know digital better quality. Is there anyone who thinks that recording on tape is better? Sounds like a dumb question, but, I am curious to know if spirits might take to a tape player rather than something that seems more threatening. The same with digital camera vs. a tape.
